Planning To Buy Vivo V9? Check This Review For Help!

It won’t be wrong to say that the under-25k smartphone segment in India is quite saturated. Brands have been engaging in extensive launch battles, and since iPhone X was launched, the focus has shifted to it. Vivo V9, which is the latest offering from the brand, takes noticeable inspiration from Apple’s flagship phone, including the notch. Does it really justify the price tag of around 24k? Here’s a check.

Specifications check

V9 packs at a 6.3-inch FHD+ touchscreen, with display resolution of 1080×2280 pixels. Weighing at about 150 grams, this is a great device in terms of design. Under the strong aluminum body, it runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 2.2GHz Octa-core processor, matched with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. ROM onboard is further expandable up to 256 GB via a microSD card. Expectedly, Vivo V9 gets the best cameras we have seen from the brand, with a 16 MP + 5 MP rear shooter, and a 24 MP one on the front for great selfies. It also gets Android 8.1 out of the box and uses Funtouch OS 4.0.  It gets a 3260mAh non-removable battery and has all expected sensors and connectivity options in place.

The good and bad

Vivo V9 was the first device in India to get the notch, if that means anything to you as a buyer. As for the hardware, it works well, but one is left wondering why they didn’t include 6GB RAM for the price. More when we have likes of Redmi Note Pro 5 offering the same in much lower price. The display of the device is probably the best you can find, and while it may have some competition from Oppo F7, there isn’t a reason why you must skip V9. Please note that this one doesn’t have the USB Type-C port, which was probably expected for the price. Camera-wise, Vivo has never disappointed, and this time too, they have a selfie shooter that works pretty well for low light, as well.

Final word

While there are other smartphones in the same segment, Vivo V9 may find its takes for the incredible display, amazing cameras, the new notch, and of course, decent hardware. The battery could have been better, but that’s a small bummer considering that Vivo has paid enough attention to most of the other things.
